How event counting works on Free
Each of these counts as 1 event toward your 10,000 monthly limit:
- A page view
- A custom event you fire from your code
- A goal completion
- An outbound link click (if you've enabled the option)
What does not count:
- Bots and crawlers (we detect and drop them server-side before they reach your counter)
Note: visitors who send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal are still counted as events. We honor GPC by skipping behavioral enrichment and profiling for those visits, but the page view itself still goes toward your monthly total.
If you average 10 page views per session, 10,000 events covers about 1,000 sessions per month — enough for a personal blog or a small project.
What happens at 10,000 events
When you hit the cap, tracking pauses for the rest of the calendar month. New events are dropped at the edge — they don't appear in your dashboard but they also don't cost you anything. The counter resets at midnight UTC on the 1st of the next month.
Free has no overage billing — you can't accidentally get charged. Upgrade to Pro for higher limits and the option of pay-as-you-go.
Will I ever be auto-charged?
No. Free has no payment method on file. You'll never be billed unless you explicitly upgrade.
