My team member can't access the dashboard — what permissions do they need?

How Zenovay's role-based access works, why an invited team member might not see a website, and the exact steps to grant or fix access.

If a team member you've invited can't see a website, can't change a setting, or gets a 403 error, walk through the most common causes below.

1. They haven't accepted the invite yet

When you invite someone from Settings → Workspace → Members (the Invite members button), they receive an email with a one-time link. Until they click that link and create a Zenovay account (or sign in with an existing one), they don't appear in your team and they can't see your data.

Fix: ask them to check their inbox (and spam folder). You can resend or revoke the invite from the Invitations tab on the same Settings → Workspace → Members page.

2. Their role doesn't include the action they're trying to perform

Zenovay has four team roles. Each one can do everything the role below it can, plus more.

RoleCan doCannot do
OwnerFull control over the team, billing, and all settings
AdminManage websites, team members, and settingsChange billing, delete the team
EditorManage websites and settings, view analyticsInvite members, change billing
ViewerRead-only access to view websites and analyticsChange anything

If a Viewer is asking why they can't change a setting, or an Editor is asking why they can't invite a teammate — that's expected.

Fix: in Settings → Workspace → Members, change their role to one that includes the action. (Only Owners and Admins can change roles, and an Admin can't promote someone above their own level.)

3. They're signed in to the wrong account

If your team member uses Zenovay on more than one account (for example a personal Free account and your team's paid account), they may be signed in to the wrong one.

Fix: ask them to sign out from app.zenovay.com, then sign back in with the email address that received your invite.

4. They're a client-portal user, not a full team member

If you're on the Scale plan and invited someone through an agency client portal, they aren't a regular team member — they get read-only access to only the specific websites assigned to their client. Regular team members, by contrast, can see every website in the team.

Fix: if this person should see more than their assigned websites, invite them as a regular team member from Settings → Workspace → Members instead, or assign the missing websites to their client from the Agency section.

Verifying the fix

After making a change:

  1. Ask the team member to sign out and sign back in (this refreshes their session).
  2. Have them open app.zenovay.com and confirm the website appears in their Domains list.
  3. Have them try the specific action that previously failed.
